Alongside his wife Louise, sons Norton and Edward, and a dedicated team of employees, Colonel Morrison cultivated not just a home but a thriving community.
Fast forward to the early 20th century, and the landscape surrounding the Morrison estate blossomed with apple orchards, painting the countryside with a patchwork of vibrant colors. Yet, as time marched on, the agricultural focus shifted, and today, those same acres yield bountiful wheat crops, a testament to the region's adaptability and resilience.
In the mid-1900s, the Morrison mansion underwent a transformation, evolving into a beacon of care and compassion as it became a nursing home under the stewardship of the Good Samaritan Society around 1960. However, as the needs of the community evolved, so too did Palouse Country's commitment to providing exemplary care.
In a nod to progress and a dedication to meeting the changing needs of its residents, the original mansion made way for modern facilities tailored to offer a spectrum of care options, from independent living to skilled nursing care and everything in between.
The turning of the decade in 2010 marked a significant chapter in Palouse Country's story as the Good Samaritan Society gracefully passed the torch, donating the land and its facilities to Palouse Country Assisted Living.
